Life is an Adventure

Saya paling suka kalo iklan Nutrilon udah muncul di tivi (inget kan dulu ada iklan anak kecil di kursi belakang mobil trus ada narasi: "I want to live my life to the absolute fullest...", saya suka banget iklan ini sebelum di-dubbing jadi bahasa Indonesia). nah sekarang ada versi barunya yang saya rasa lebih keren lagi.... oooh, I Looove those commercials, both of them. Kata-katanya keren, trus bikin kita ngebayangin apa anak -anak seumuran gitu (toddlers) udah bisa mikir seperti itu.

Ngutip catching phrase-nya kalimat itu "Life is an adventure", saya terinspirasi nulis malam ini.

To be honest I'm not really an adventurer, but sometimes, I love to have adventures. 

For me, adventure is not just about going to the wilderness and try to catch some alligators. It simply going out of your comfort zone. 

Saya senang nyoba menu baru di restoran, ato sekedar lewat di jalan yang belum pernah saya lewati sebelumnya buat tau ada apa aja di jalan itu. Dan saya rasa yang dibutuhkan sebelum memulai suatu petualangan adalah curiosity and courage.

I love fashion. And I know, every girl loves it too. I think every aspect of our life can't be separated from fashion. Along with fashion, I also love movie, just like every other girl.

Academy Awards, also known as Oscar is an annual event where films combined with fashion. I even prefer the red carpet where all the stars are dress to the nine.Among all of those pretty dresses, there are some that i really really love.Here it comes.

#5. Reese Witherspoon 

Not just got a recognition of her acting and won the award as best actress, at 2006 Reese's dress is also an award winning dress. I love the cutting, the color, and the embelishment of this dress. I  personally think that this color is perfect for red carpet. And the best accessory of course is her hubby Ryan Phillipe, too bad they got divorced.

#4. Carrey Mulligan

I fell in love with this edgy black dress, with the embelishment. It suited her well, and also matched with her pixie hairstyle. If only she wore another pair of shoes.

#3. Hailee Steinfeld

Rumour has it that Hailee also participated to designed this Marchesa dress. This is an age-appropriate dress. Way to go, Hailee.

This lavender dress is a statement dress. It gives a sexy but not skanky impression. The laces at the perfect places. Mila Kunis wore this dress with an attitude.

Overheard in Manado

terinspirasi dari "Overheard in NY" dan "Nguping Jakarta", akhirnya sodara-sodara..... (drum roll please), new note from me...
sebelum dilanjutkan, secara pribadi saya ingin berterima kasih kepada orang-orang tertentu (apalagi yang merasa dirinya adalah orang tersebut) karena telah mengeluarkan statement yang menginspirasi saya menulis (ups, maksud saya, mengetik) ini.

hampir setiap hari kita sering mendengar orang yang salah ngomong. entah "slip of the tongue" ato emang orang tersebut tidak sadar bahwa orang yang mendengar statement tersebut bisa ngakak guling-guling di lantai. saya gak akan membahas statement-statement seperti "salah jurus" yang sangat menghibur saat lunch di McD sesudah berkeringat main bultang, ato statement "pangeran impian" yang bisa bikin seseorang mukul bola golf dengan benar, ato the most remarkable statement "garfield itu binatang apa?" yang bikin belajar kelompok lebih seru dan akibatnya saya sering disangka gila krn setiap kali ingat satement tersebut saya bisa ketawa sendiri, tak peduli dimana tempatnya.

Walaupun statement-statement di bawah ini mungkin tidak selucu statement-staement di atas, bahkan sedikit mengandung ironi. saya memcoba mengingat lagi staement-statement lain untuk  ditulis (sekali lagi maaf, diketik) di part 2.

#1.
di suatu minggu siang, penulis sedang makan siang bersama keluarga. tiba-tiba hape seseorang bunyi. ternyata ada sms. untung orang tersebut tidak memasang ringtone doraemon, sehingga penulis tidak akan distracted oleh statement yang dikeluarkan seseorang di meja tersebut saat si empunya hape ngomong, "huh, sms penipu lagi. ma, kirimin aku pulsa." tiba-tiba seseorang, kita sebut saja X, nyeletuk, "gue juga pernah dapat sms kayak gitu". sounds like an ordinary conversation until X nyeletuk lagi, "yah gue balas aja, sialan loh, piiip, piiip, piiip (bunyi sensor karena kata2 berikut tergolong unrated) ngapain loe ngabisin pulsa segitu banyak trus mau minta lagi. gue balas smsnya kayak gue mo sms anak gue."
i was like "WTH" gile bener, ada orang yang ngomong ke anaknya dengan bahasa "bonbin"... ckckck, i'm not a parent yet, but i'm sure that's not how we suppose to talk to our children. saat mendengar hal tersebut, besar harapan penulis agar si X hanya bercanda.

#2.
agak kurang lucu dan tidak se-dramatis #1. tapi ini benar-benar bikin ngakak. entah ini adalah "gift" ato "curse" (saat ini penulis sedang mengutip Peter Parker, sambil membayangkan lagi adegan terakhir waktu beliau di pemakaman papanya James Franco), seorang penulis biasanya punya imajinasi yang besar.
saat sedang-jalan2 di mall bersama anggota kabinet yang lain. keadaan mall yang sedang crowd gak membuat telinga penulis untuk tidak peka menguping (tanpa disengaja, ini murni suatu kebetulan krn penulis bukanlah seorang stalker yang nguntit target cuma untuk menunggu suatu statement yang lucu) pembicaraan orang-orang di sekitar.
saat sedang boring seboring-boringnya karena belum nemu tiara buat properti pemotretan, tiba-tiba terdengar seorang bapak yang lagi ngomong di hape. "kamu di mana. ke sini aja, itu udah papa parkir di mobil" saya langsung berhenti berjalan. tiba-tiba dunia terasa berjalan begitu lambat saat saya membayangkan mobil bapak tersebut yang juga merangkap tempat parkir. ingin rasanya penulis berbalik dan segera bertanya sama si bapak, "pak, liat diong mobilnya kayak gimana? bapak yakin itu mobil? bukan autobots kan ato decepticons?" (pertanyaan terkahir karena dalam pikiran penulis saat ini adalah, apakah "transformers: dark of the moon" akan diputar di indonesia? dan ya, saya akui, saya memang punya "flight of idea"). tapi setelah dipikir-pikir lagi sebaiknya tidak saya lakukan, karena bisa-bisa saya disangka gila dan segera dirujuk ke RS Ratumbuysang dan dirawat di rauang gaduh gelisah. akhirnya dengan langkah gontai, penulis melanjutkan acara hunting tiara.

so, guys, always remember. jangan pernah sekali-kali mengeluarkan statement-statement sejenis di atas bila tidak ingin statement anda masuk di part 2 dst.

How I hate hypocrisy

Dedicated to a friend of mine, you're just a victim of hypocrisy.
Hypocrisy, according to wikipedia, is the state of pretending to have beliefs, opinions, virtues, ideals, thoughts, feelings, qualities, or standards that one does not actually have. The word hypocrisy comes from the Greek ὑπόκρισις (hypokrisis), which means "Jealous" "play-acting", "acting out", "coward" or "dissembling".
Earlier today I just heard a shocking news (or probably just a rumor since the credibility of the messenger is still in question-if you smell subtle sarcasm, you're absolutely right) about one of my friend, C, whom is a fellow doctor. I confirm with my friend, she said part of it is true while the other part of it is still unclear-wether it's true or wrong.
You might still wondering why am I saying that my friend is just a victim of hypocrisy. Well, to be honest, it all started with just a simple conversation which I had with another fellow doctor about my plan to work in a hospital.
It turns out that my friend whom I mentioned before is no longer working in the hospital which I also mentioned. The fact is-which already been confirmed- she quit because some issue about the impending working schedule. While rumour has it that it might be related to some violation against something that we believed, honor, and cherished - don't ask me what, or otherwise it's gonna be a long explanation-, something that make us difference than some other people, something that we could be proud of-but some other people think they can use it to make them more superior.
Well to be honest, the violation is also been done, other than C, there are 3 other doctors, including me. Why don't I feel shame to say it? Or maybe you sense some pride in the way I'm saying that I've violated something? That is all because I'm not a hypocrite. Why? Because I did that for some good reasons. For the sake of myself, people I care about, my society, and I believe it'll allow me to fulfill the path that have been designed for me.
C maybe encouraged me to do so. But I believe she also has good reasons to do that and even encouraged me to do that.
And some people used that one mistake to ruin C's career. They did few terrible things. Unbelievable for the group of people who think that they never did anything wrong, or make some mistakes, or maybe they think that they are the saints while the four of us are the sinners. Well, think again fellas, we're all just f-ing human (pardon my language), we make mistakes, that's how we learn to be something better, or make some consideration about the grey zone, because not all things are black and white.
Let's back to our topic, hypocrisy, something that is based on jealousy and cowardness.
I make "jealousy is a disease" as a motto. It may sounds harsh, but it's the ugly truth. And even worse, it's contagious. Jealousy started with the discontent of people's heart and soul and mind, as it's spread through, it creates some paranoid dellusion, that other people are better than themselves, it raises their awareness of the flaws of other people, or even worse they create the pseudo-flaws, or fake flaws to that other people, and that, my friends, is the beginning of rumor, gossip, you name it.
And those people is just some cowards. They are too afraid about the system, they don't want to change it. They're just messing with people who follow the system.
Now you might wondering why am I calling those people who hurt C are just some hypocrites?
Because they're just pretending to be something they're not. Au contraire with their speech, their attitudes, their actions show something that is really different.
So, I'll just say, those hypocrites to me are just some fake people. They're actually going to be great actors, since they can act so well in real life, I bet they could win some Oscars if they're in a movie.
For C. As I always said, before exams -academic exams- or during hard times, "this too shall past". Just believe that there's a rainbow after every storm. All things are changing for something better. And I'm really proud that you handle this situation with a clear head and kind heart. You're a good person, you'll have a happy-wonderful-excellent ending in the story of your life. Thank you for sharing with me.

Freedom???

Tulisan ini sebenarnya sudah lama saya buat.

Saat menulis ini, saya baru selesai membaca blog seorang anak sma 6 mahakam tentang "keributan" di lingkungan sekolahnya karena sejumlah pencari berita yang menurut dia sangat mengganggu kegiatan belajar di sekolahnya menyusul kejadian tawuran antara sma 6 dan sma 70. Blog ini tidak sengaja saya dapat. Sebenarnya ini blog yang direkomendasikan oleh Radit lewat twitter.

Banyak hal yang sangat saya sukai dari cara penulisan Indra (si empunya blog). Walaupun kesannya berat sebelah (Indra tampaknya terlalu membela sekolahnya, tapi saya tidak menyalahkan Indra untuk hal ini), Indra menulis dengan gaya yang baik, dengan kata-kata yang bagus tapi mudah dicerna (tampaknya hal ini yang bikin Radit merekomendasikan tulisan Indra).
Ada beberapa hal yang sangat saya sayangkan. Saat saya mulai membaca komen-komen yang diberikan orang untuk tulisan Indra. 50% komentator memberikan komentar berupa pujian atas tulisan Indra yang bagus. Tapi setengah lagi hanya "menyampah". Sangat disayangkan jika kita membaca tulisan yang benar-benar bagus, tapi kita tidak memberi apresiasi kepada si penulis, tapi kita malahan memberi komentar yang bukan hanya tidak berhubungan dengan tulisan tersebut tapi juga komentar yang bersifat "memprovokasi" pemberi komentar atau bahkan pembaca blog lainnya, komentar yang hanya ditulis berdasarkan emosi si pembaca hingga terjadi adu komentar, tanpa menghiraukan arti dari tulisan tersebut sebenarnya. Beberapa komentar yang menyudutkan Indra juga beberapa kali muncul. Komentar-komentar tersebut saya duga ditulis oleh wartawan yang entah sengaja atau kebetulan membaca tulisan Indra. Jika para wartawan merasa punya kebebasan untuk mencari berita karena dilindungi UU. Sebagai seorang warga negara Indonesia, saya yakin Indra juga punya kebebasan untuk menyatakan pendapat.
Hal lain yang saya sesali adalah, tindakan "semau gue" para pencari berita yang mengatasnamakan undang-undang kebebasan pers. Yang mungkin tanpa mereka sadari bisa merugikan orang-orang lain. Contohnya adalah kejadian yang ditulis Indra dalam blognya. Saya bisa membayangkan betapa sulitnya bagi para siswa sekolah tersebut untuk belajar dalam keadaan ribut karena para pencari berita yang berkumpul di lingkungan sekolah, berteriak minta pihak sekolah memberi keterangan, naik ke atap sekolah, mengganggu siswa yang hendak pulang.
Maaf jika saya juga kesannya membela pihak sekolah Indra.
Mengenai masalah perampasan kaset rekaman oleh seorang siswa, yang menurut saya merupakan tindakan yang disulut emosi. Saya tidak membenarkan tindakan siswa tersebut, tapi sangat disayangkan jika masalah itu terlalu dibesar-besarkan sementara masih ada banyak hal lain yang perlu diperhatikan oleh kita semua. Apalagi siswa tersebut hanya seorang remaja yang berusia belasan tahun dengan kecenderungan bertindak impulsif.
Indra sempat menulis bahwa ia mengurungkan niatnya untuk menjadi wartawan setelah kejadian ini. Sangat disayangkan bila perbuatan orang-orang tertentu digeneralisasikan menjadi sifat dari suatu kelompok pekerjaan. Saya yakin walaupun hanya sedikit, ada beberapa pencari berita yang tetap bertindak sebagai profesional dan bukan pembuat sensasi.
